Striving for profesionalism, Driverlane have created a fresh and original version of rock that will set them apart in the SA rock scene. Experienced musicians from 3 of the late top bands in durban have combined their skill and experience to form a new style of rock that will appeal to the commercial and underground markets. The vocals, guitar and drums of Fruit Fly Navigators are joined by the bass of Beth Reporting and the keyboard of Jimmy 12 inch to form a powerful and dynamic, as well as dedicated, 5 piece rock band.
Strong melodies and musical diversity are major focuses of the band creating a sound that will ensure future relevence, staying away from musical trends. Widely diverse, chunky distorted chords can change to subtle piano touches seamlessly, illustrating the rare maturity that comes only from experience. Coupled with their energetic stage act and consistently solid performances, Driverlane have earned a following after very few shows.
Driverlane's debut was a prime slot on the Splashy Fen 2005 main stage and since have completed work on a 5 track EP, collaborating with two of Durban's top engineers / producers (David Birch and Philipp Maier) showcasing the maturity and strength of the band's material. |
